On March 2, 1836 Texas became a sovereign nation.

If Texas were a country today it would have the 12th largest economy in the world. Texas would also be a nuclear power, could most likely be energy independent, and with NASA in Houston we would have access to space as well. Houston is also a major port allowing us to trades goods with other nations all over the world. We also have many respected universities around the state. Did I mention that the integrated circuit was invented in Texas? Without this contribution the modern age would not have been possible. 

Just a little food for thought on Texas Independence Day. Now go enjoy a cold Shiner Bock. Or Lone Star, St. Arnold’s, Real Ale, or any other beer brewed in Texas. We have much to be proud of and much to be thankful for as Texans.
